Name: methane
Content:

Methane is a hydrocarbon with formula CH4. It is a polyatomic molecule.

When one 2s orbital and three 2p orbitals of carbon hybridise (distribute their energies to become equal), four hibrid orbitals are formed. Each of such hybrid orbitals pairs with one electron from hidrogen to become CH4.
